Nope….I believe Royce was the first one to use it several UFCs before this (I wish I could find the exact fight by he pulls MISSION CONTROL.

that seems more like what people who have no clue about the rubber guard think the rubber guard is.

it’s really more like a psuedo-rubber guard, or a poor man’s rubber guard… or a crappy/wrong rubber guard. take your pick

Ari, are you referring to the Severn fight?

  4. Ari Bolden says:

I can’t recall but I think that was it? Do you remember it? Am I wrong?

At any rate, if grabbing the ankle constitutes the Rubber Guard then hell, they’ve been doing it in Yoga for 3000 years ! 😉

    Hahahaha!!

Exactly the same “attempt” from Royce vs Tokoro that i send to U Alder. (gi pants grip)

Well, of course it sucks, but after all, everybody needs an RG.

    Nah…that’s called desperation.

  8. Jimmy says:

Nah, no rubberguard… just grabbing the pants and finding out that it holds his opponent down a bit. He also nearly had a lockdown at one time as well, but decided to push the leg away with his feet to get a traditional halfguard 😛
