10th Planet Watch

The first official class at 10th Planet Van Nuys will be kicking off this Tuesday August 24th @ 8:30. For those of you who may not know, I’ve recently moved my program to the other side of the San Fernando Valley here in the greater Los Angeles area. It’s always been a dream of mine to operate my own show. I’ve left Burbank in the Caring hands of Scott, Erwann and Jason.

Location: Saekson Muay Thai/10th Planet Van Nuys

16838 W. Saticoy St., Van Nuys, CA 91406. Near Balboa It’s on the Southeast side of the street. Not to be confused with the Hapkido spot on the opposite corner.

The new schedule is as follows:

Monday 11am-12:30pm, and 8:30pm-10:00pm

Tuesday 8:30pm-10:00pm

Wednesday 11am-12:30pm, and 8:30pm-10:00pm

Thursday 8:30pm-10:00pm

Sunday 11am-12:30pm

Today starts our yearly, or so, Scott Epstein week on 10th Planet Watch. We’ll be take a closer look at the man everybody loves to hate. I’m going to try and do an interview with him by the end of the week. He has a ton of super exciting stuff coming up so YOU should be interested. I’ve also recently been informed from the source, as I type this, he’s actually drunk. It should be fun!

Scottie Epstein, 10th Planet black belt : There’s a reason that Chuck Lidell asked Scottie “Einstein” Epstein to serve as his team’s jiu-jitsu coach on Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter. That’s because Scottie, a 10th Planet student since day one, arguably knows the 10th Planet system better than anyone other than Eddie Bravo himself . Scottie has proved the effectiveness of the system at every level of competition with a 4-0 MMA (including the TAPOUT show) record and numerous grappling medals with the majority of wins by submission.
Sean Bollinger, 10th Planet black belt, head instructor at 10th Planet Riverside. Sean developed the “double bagger” aspect of the 10th Planet system, a highly effective variation of rubber guard that requires crazy flexibility but offers superior control and high percentage submissions. Bollinger gives step-by-step instructions on the double bagger and more.

Denny Propokos, 10th Planet black belt, head instructor of 10th Planet San Francisco. Denny was the first to receive a blackbelt in the 10th planet system under Eddie Bravo and holds numerous grappling titles, including a gold medal at the FILA 2010 Grappling World Championships and the 2008 Nogi Worlds. Denny turns to his strong wrestling background for the moves he demonstrates here.

On April 17th, Henry’s TKD, of Christiansburg, Virginia, hosted an MMA Smoker to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  Neale Hoerle, head coach of both 10th Planet Morgantown and the upcoming 10th Planet Lynchburg, attended as the event’s guest referee along with current Strikeforce World Champion, Sarah Kaufman, who sat in as a celebrity guest judge.

Thanks again to Henry’s TKD in Christiansburg, VA. They’re working hard on becoming one of 10th Planet’s newest affiliates. It was a pleasure to meet everybody in attendance, we had a great time! I also got a chance to teach my first ever kids seminar while I was there. Big ups to the little tikes that attended. They’re going to grow up to become complete animals!
