I’d like to give a big shout out to Garry and the whole crew that came out to the seminar at Straight Blast this last weekend. The turn out was amazing. It was awesome being able to do a seminar literally blocks from where I was born. All the guys at the seminar did really well, they were very enthusiastic to learn the 10th Planet system.

In my opinion, it seems like 10th Planet Portland might not be such a bad idea. With Matt Horwich, old school Bravo purple belt, John Salami, and George Sotiropolous relocating to the area, it would seem there’s a good group of 10th Planet folks up there.

I also got the chance to roll with the guys over at Team Quest again while I was there. UFC vet, Fabiano Scherner was the instructor. I was afforded the opportunity to roll for a little while with him. What a monster, he’s smooth and technical. Not to mention, he’s about 250 or rock solid mass.

I’m stoked to come back again soon. PDX rox!

Due to bureaucratic red tape, the mounties are going to deny my access into their country. It seems to be a paperwork issue, that, if I had known would have been a problem, I would have easily handled prior to wasting my time flying up here and sitting in customs for hours and hours. It would seem they’re very strict here on letting people into the country. I watched them deny access to a whole slew of people. My sincere apologies to everybody that was going to come out and support. I’ll be back soon.

I did however get a chance to hang out with Dan and Nabil from 10th Planet Vancouver for a few hours. I was granted a “day pass.” We grabbed some delicious food and then went and checked out the 10th Planet Vancouver Gym. It’s a great facility.

From what I saw, Vancouver is a lovely city. I can’t wait to come back. The women are beautiful up here. From the customs officers, to the waitresses at the restaurant, even the girl that served us Egg Mcmuffins at McDonalds this morning was cute. It must be something in the water or clean air.

I did not give Brandon his brown belt.

I have known Brandon for many years, met him at JJ’s a long time ago while he was a student of black belt David Dunn. He also trained from time to time at 10th planet over the years. Many of my students are also full time students elsewhere, so his sporadic training at my school was quite normal.

When he approached me for affiliation he told me he was a brown belt and since I knew him for many years I never verified his brown belt, I just believed him.

Since the ability to teach my system is more important to me than the color of your belt i just checked him on his 10thplanet knowledge, which was pretty damn good.

I am not looking for champions to run my affiliates, just good teachers that understand my strategies, philosophies and have complete command of the 10th Planet terminology, which Brandon had down solid, and so does Ari, who got his purple from me directly.

Now that Brandon’s brown belt is in question, I called him yesterday and asked him exactly where he got it.

Now i know why he’s hesitant to explain how he got it publicly.

Turns out, according to Brandon, he got his brown belt from a bjj black belt while he was in the army. A guy named Sergeant Jason Keen who years later turned out to be a fake black belt.

Srgt Keen claimed he got his black belt from a Gracie military system called G.R.A.P.P.L.E. or something like that, but it turned out he lied, so basically Brandon’s brown belt is not legit.

Now the question is, what am I gonna do about this situation?

There are a few routes I can take, but I will discuss this with my top disciples before I make my final decision.

I take full responsibility for not verifying the legitimacy of his brown belt before official affiliation was complete, I will do my best to make sure this does not happen again 🙂

Ari, you forgot to mention all the ALDER videos that will still be available (in theory). Of course this will only happen as soon as I get off my lazy ass and in front of the camera. But I’m really camera shy and kinda a douche bag, so I wouldn’t want to misrepresent the system, so maybe not. But none the less, you should ALWAYS mention me in your future videos.

Oh and btw, I’m taking down my youtube vids too. I’ll be moving 10thplanetwatch.com over to www10thPlanetjj.com as well. I’ll keep everybody posted.

Alder, that’s me, is going to be going to go out to Waikiki this September 17th-21st-ish. I’d like to find a place to do a Seminar while I’m there. I’d most likely want to do it Saturday the 19th. I’d also, as per usual, be available for privates and semi privates. If any of my island brothers are in the know, hit me up!
