It’s time…..this video should get a lot of attention.

Just talked to Eddie about this. Can’t wait to see the next phase of this Alder!

  2. Alder Hampel says:

This could be the start of something HUGE!

  3. Matthias says:

    Great video and so true.

  4. Wolverine says:

Great video. I would like to see another video of some of Jason Chambers stuff, the one with his top positioning drills is great, and I have gotten a lot of use out of those moves.

The other day I was thinking about some peoples #1 argument against the Rubber Guard, “pulling your knee up like that you will blow out your knee…” I was thinking about how I have injured my ribs a couple of times twisting to take some ones back to go for the RNC. Also I remembered that BJ Penn did the same thing against Matt Hughes in their second fight. You never hear anyone say don’t take the guys back and go for the choke, you could hurt your ribs.

  6. I personally don’t understand the claims about damaging the knee.

I had a miniscus tear, bone fragments under my left knee cap and one of my tendons was completely gone before I ever went to train with Eddie or do any rubber guard.

The funny thing is the RG never bothered my right knee, which is the one I use to break posture, at all.

Just had the first of two surgeries on my left knee and it went well. The second one will be after I rehab from this one.

  7. Man, it’s an uphill battle boys. It won’t stop the haters. In all seriousness, I have a guy named Fabricium stop in my gym today to roll. he is a bjj blackbelt. he said that he did see eddies rubber guard when he was in brazil….when he went on YOUTUBE!!!! LOL (seriously) now thats awesome

  8. Erik Wahlberg says:

I liked this piece a lot. I even commented on youtube but for some reason it was deleted? LOL…I wasn’t even inciting anything. I just said how much I loved it and how effective it has been for me.

Eddie Bravo is the Bruce Lee of jiu-jitsu (if you hear that somewhere else remember you heard it from me first. He-he)….he is slowly opening the minds of the traditionalists the same was the Little Dragon opened the minds of the striking stylists of his era!

But, yes, it is an uphill battle…

  9. Dan Bras says:

Honestly, the only thing I think people hate on regarding Eddie Bravo is where he always claims how he’s revolutionizing Jiu-Jitsu… I cant remember a time where a Brazilian or another practitioner boasted and bragged how their system is the greatest thing to hit the BJJ scene in XX years. Actually, Im sorry.. There is one other man. Lloyd Irvin. His hate line is probably just as long as Eddie’s.

  10. Oops, I mean my left knee that was already tore up.

    Uh, the Gracies maybe?

  12. Dan Bras says:

The Gracie’s were trying to promote BJJ in general. Eddie’s trying to promote a guard system within BJJ. Kind of a big difference. Without the Gracie’s, you could argue that there would be no modern day MMA and certainly no Eddie Bravo jiu jitsu whiz…. Again, I’m a fan of Eddie’s, but I can see where someone in the BJJ community could be annoyed at him.

Uhh, 10PlanetJJ is a lot more than just a guard system. And true, without the Gracies we wouldn’t have MMA or 10thPlanet…but without Eddie we won’t have whatever comes next. Eddie is just continuing the evolution.

  14. GoodWill says:

NO DISRESPECT. i love the system. i use it all the time. props to 10th planet and eddie.

what do you guys think about rubber with gi? i use the rubber guard with gi… SO MUCH HARDER!

i thought eddie innovated off of renzo’s mma fight. I saw a clip where eddie said it himself where he saw renzo grapping his own knee but wasnt doing anything. Eddie saw that and innovated off of it. Is that the same thing as creating the rubber guard?

  15. Felipe Grez says:

I have to agree that Eddie has revolutionised the way people play no gi in submission grappling and mma! Even Ricardo Almeida was using it against Cote and Ricardo’s got some of the sickest jitz in the world! You cant get a better endorsement of his innovation than that!!!

  16. Sal Trevino says:

Im a purple belt in bjj and have been a fan since UFC 1. Ive seen Royce Gracie show the world how effective gracie jiu jitsu is which is Brazilian jiu- jitsu. At the time the grappling art was not considered a martial art. But thanks to Royce and the Gracie Family it is now. Eddie Bravo loves the art of ground fighting just like the gracies he just has a diffrent vision and thats awsome. Eddie started with GE training with Machado who he still looks up to. If the ground game can improve and change why not. Keep it up Eddie. I train in Gi and no Gi I like and respect both ( to me both is important.

  17. John Keller says:

I would like to see Eddie rematch Royler. Eddie bravo has not returned to brazil ever since. I think when Eddie competes as a black belt for 20 years like royler. Wins ADCC world submission grappling 3 times and is a 4 time world brazilian jiu jitsu champion like royler. And has won the ADCC more times than anyone else then his style will be more respected. He did good with the win we all get caught but that does not mean that your way is better. What has he done since his match with Royler. Or he got that one win and called it quits. im a blue belt and have submitted a brown belt once the brown belt has more knowlede and is better than me he just got caught in a mistake.

  18. dwight roux says:

Eddie is onto something so big that it will blow your bj mind. He is not wasting his time competing as he is building an army of freaks that will complety change the face of mma competition. They do not allow gi’s in the cage or on the street.

  19. John Keller says:

He is not competing because the comp is tough and he respects it. Nobody is wasting there time competing he should compete even more to prove that his system is not luck like the win over Royler. If you are talking about streets then his system has poking eyes, pulling hair, biting, grabbing fingers, striking the throat thats street and thats real. I love jiu jitsu but I would add all those things and to my game if I was in a street fight not rubber gaurd. GI no GI same thing its sport fighting its not totally real I been there street and cage two diffrent things,

  20. John Keller says:

The Gracies have been taking challenges on the steets and in there gym for many years impoving there system by street fighting. They started there jiu jitsu by sweet and blood fighting on the streets representing there jiu jitsu. Any Gracie would not turn down a street fight if you challenge them thats what they do best. There system like Helio stated was watered down to a sport. Helio’s word ” I did not invent a sport a invented a art for self defense. 10 planet is a good source of sport submission wrestling.

  21. Regiyah says:

I train in reality based\self defence as well as knife and stick fighting and I can tell you that the Gracies self defence methods is Old School! Especially the knife\stick\weaponry part which will get you killed.

  22. John Keller says:

opinions are respected but please stick to the facts when someone dies using pure gracie methods then ok but till then good opinion. the facts are gracie methods have been practiced and changed over the years by challenges and steet fights. its my opinion that stick and knife fighting is not reality street fighting its military style or unless your a ninja or a samuri but anyway I have yet to see stats that have a high knife fighting and stick fighting recorded by the FBI law enforcments crime stats. Its nice to practice it looks cool or when the end of the world comes you can battle for food and shelter with knifes and sticks.
