October 23rd, 2008 In News, Seminars | 1 Comment

September of 2007, Brandon “Never Quit” Quick relocated to the Lone Star state and created the first 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu school outside of Hollywood, Ca.  Brandon started his career in the Jean Jacques Machado jiu jitsu system and then followed Eddie Bravo to the Bomb Squad when he created 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.  After 10th Planet relocated to Legends MMA Facility, owned by Randy Cotoure and Bas Rutten, Brandon continued his training at Legends MMA.

Now, Brandon Quick, owns and teaches at Trinity Combat Academy/10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Dallas Ft Worth.  He is a brown belt and a student under Eddie “The Twister” Bravo. The main focus and drive for Brandon is to attain the ‘holy grail’ of no-gi… an Eddie Bravo black belt and expanding the knowledge of no-gi jiu jitsu to all those who seek 10th Planet. Only no-gi is practiced and only no-gi belts are earned.

Officially waving the flag, 10th Planet DFW has started competing as of may 2008.

Team Trinity/10th Planet DFW offers Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA and Kids classes

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu: Importance of Flexibility For Rubber Guard

August 23rd, 2008 In Theory | 2 Comments

Obviously flexibility is important for playing rubber guard. It’s one of the things I’m constantly working on improving.

Here are Eddie and Brandon Quick both talking about the subject matter. Eddie has specifically stated numerous times, in order to get a black belt in the 10th Planet system, you’ll need to get your knees all the way to the ground on the butterfly stretch. That along with knowing the entire system of course. When you’re watching the “Way Cool Weekdays” block on the boob tube with “Family Matters and Full House,” be getting your stretch on.

Peruvian Neckties

July 28th, 2008 In MMA, Techniques | 1 Comment

Here’s Brandon’s variation on the Peruvian Necktie. I like how he secures the ankle and can hold on even when the opponent tries to roll out.

Here’s and example of the peruvian necktie in action from the recent UFN CB Dollaway vs Jesse Taylor

10th Planet DFW: Chevy: Back to Truck/Twister

July 25th, 2008 In Techniques | Comments Off on 10th Planet DFW: Chevy: Back to Truck/Twister

You see this come up all the time in MMA where somebody will get the back, and can’t finish due to the opponent holding on to the gloves. Brandon Show’s a slick way to go from the back to The Twister.

10th Planet DFW: Twister Side: Executioner

July 22nd, 2008 In Techniques | Comments Off on 10th Planet DFW: Twister Side: Executioner

Brandon Quick demonstrates one of Scott “Einstein” Epstein’s money moves, “The Epste-cutioner”. It’s a great alternative if your opponent keeps his hands tightly in the t-rex position or doesn’t tap to a north/south choke.

10th Planet Technique: Twister Hardcore

July 16th, 2008 In Techniques | 1 Comment

10th Planet DFW’s Brandon Quick shows a new brutal way to set up the twister from the 100%. It traps the opponent’s far arm, making it easier to apply the submission.
