Pt.1

While working Jerome Basilio’s Rubix Cube from the Pyramid we came up with a new position and a bunch of new submissions off of it. Tell me what you think. 8th Street Gym, Grand Junction, Colorado. Jeff Barney, Felipe Soto, filmed by Jorge “El Original” Carrasco.

Pt.2

More options off of Jerome Basilio’s Rubix Cube. First we show a transition to the back that we call the Solution. Then another transition called the Drowning Puppet. 8th Street Gym, Grand Junction Colorado.

I’m going to parts 3 and 4 of the Puppet master up in another blog post in the very near future.

I think that is a misprint on the 8th Street website. I believe that Rob is ranked under Carlos Caique Elias a Gracie Jiu jitsu black belt. Our head Jiu Jitsu instructor is Tom Bolger a black belt under Walt Bayless. I only met Walt once, but he had some mad skills. I will try and dig up some of his old videos and post a couple of clips of his stuff. He tought a lot of positions similar to 10th Planet like the sit out towards the legs (twister side control) and a position he called “The Wally Mount” (stoner control). Hope this clears up any questions.

I don´t know if this stuff is legit, but i like.

    Thank´s Wolverine i´m working on that…

  4. ian says:

as far as i know, walt bayless is a “black belt” in his own style of “jiu jitsu”, but he is not a black belt in “brazilian jiu jitsu” (ie he does not trace his instructor lineage back to either carlos or helio gracie).

  5. Dave says:

I liked this stuff. I also liked the moment I realized that these guys sit around and watch Jerome videos.

  6. Dave "Edwin's Twin" says:

Very creative. I can’t tell if it’s legit since i can’t even pull off Jerome’s stuff in the first place, but i like watching it.

  7. The transition from the Rubix Cube to the back called the Solution is legit.

It can be a fight if the guy tries to hold on to your neck with the free arm but you can still get it.

  8. Wolverine says:

    Hey Jason,
If when doing the Solution your opponent grabs your neck (1:35 in the video) as a counter to throwing his arm high with the underhook, I would switch from wrist control with the right hand and grab my left foot with my left hand to keep him from freeing his arm. Then I would use my right arm to push his head away and throw my right leg over his neck to put him in the face down Puppet Master. From here you could probably get a straight arm bar on his right arm if it is still on your neck, or you could go for one of the other submissions from there, or continue with the drowning puppet.
