He should have listened to his coach more, that guy knew exactly what he was talking about.

Since it’s Holland, I guess the shoddy overall grappling is to be expected. It’s a kickboxing country, they don’t do the whole “grabbing and wrestling” thing.

The guy definitely had the basic concepts of the rubber guard in his head. He had proper positioning, but he was dealing with getting stacked and pressured in his guard most of the 1st round.

I think he lost the rubber guard a couple of times because he wasn’t holding the knee tightly enough in going from NY > Chill Dog.

He also goes for a pump (?) at 2:40, but the guy just postures right out of it.

Since this was the finals, I suppose sweat was a factor right at the beginning of the match.

He worked the Zombie real well, but he had a hard time clearing the neck to go to chill Dog.

anyone else think that the double bagger would have work nicely in this situation? it looked like he had the proper flexibility.

  5. PacificFlows says:

good shit. not aggressive enough, though.

  6. Hug your knee harder when you go to clear the head for chill dog. You want your ankle cutting down on the back of his neck the whole time– when you tried to clear the head, it was resting around his shoulders. IMHO this is what allowed him to escape, and you probably would have finished fast if you had gotten to chill dog/invisible collar. Until you can get to chill dog reliably, your rubber guard isn’t really working.

AMAZING finish though. I cheered out loud and my housemates looked at me funny.

Am I missing a few things here? What was with the stoppage in the middle of it? Do that have rounds or something? Can someone enlighten me? I guess the shorter guy won on points?

  8. i think the guy did well and should be given more credit. we seem to see people use 10pjj and rip them apart if its not done like eddie on a whitebelt.this type of match is exactly when when 10th Planet Tournaments comes out this year it will be submission and submission attempt driven not who is on top driven
