If you haven’t heard, maybe you’ve been under a rock for a while, so here it is. THIS DOOD IS LEGIT. Adam “Big Red” Sachnoff has been making some big waves as of late. I don’t usually like talking about “the haters” but not all the 10th Planet detractors can STFU, you now have that 10th Planet guy that one something “significant.” Like anything, things take time. It takes time for new schools to start producing winners, if it didn’t, you’d see a world champion at every school. The truth is, most schools don’t produce champions. Only the extremely special ones do, and out of those, even less produce multiple champions.

I have to give Props to Prokopos! Denny has been doing a great job up in SF. His team is talented, most people that come out of there are good. Expect to see more good stuff from his school. I think with teams like this leading the charge, we’ll see more and more of this from 10th Planet.

10th Planet SF’s Adam Sachnoff is going to adcc in 2013. Winning the finals of the 2012 ADCC NA trials with a gogoplata against 50/50 black belt Brandon Raedy. He wins most of his matches by submission!

10th Planet Van Nuys’ Yumi Matsumoto fresh off her victories at Grapplers Quest, UFC Expo ’12 in Las Vegas. She won gold in her division and got silver in the women’s absolute. Also congrats to Bhimer, Mike “Lobes”, and David Hah who also competed at GQ.

I had the awesome privilege of cornering the first ever Combat Jiu Jitsu match held at Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles. This may be the next thing that ties Jiu Jitsu into MMA. Maybe one day we’ll see big names in jiu jitsu use this as a stepping stone into getting into full blown mma.

This past weekend, in Las Vegas, Nevada, 10th planet members from all over came together at NAGA (North American Grappling Association) and came out with awesome team victory! With a nibiru warrior from either Portland, HQ, Burbank, Riverside, or Van Nuys in every division from Novice to Advanced, and placing in every division! Every one of them trained hard this and earned every single victory out there. Congrats to everyone to competed and came out to support! On to the next one!

For the past month and a half over at 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Van Nuys, the competition team has been training for hours and hours on end for NAGA in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 10th. A training camp for a tournament is a huge key to success over at 10th Planet Van Nuys, whether it be no gi jiu jitsu or MMA. The team vibe has never been better, and the team is pushing each other to a whole other level when it comes to conditioning, drilling, and rolling in the gym. It is sure to sure on the mat come March 10th. Be on the look out for 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Van Nuys!

“The Human Tornado” will be our third installment of the Van Nuys MMA in-house tournaments. This event will be a beginner’s tournament, anybody with 2 years of experience and under is welcome to participate. Everybody is encouraged to compete in this event, it’s a great place to sharpen skills, in a friendly environment.

Admission for competitors is $10, and $5 for spectators. Coaches get in for free, just email me and let me know who you’ll be coaching. We will be awarding medals for this event!

We will also be showing the UFC on FOX at the gym after the competition, so bring friends, food and fun. It will begin at 6pm.
