Advanced Half Guard Tactics: Ride The Lightning Sweep

“This is basically an Electric Chair Sweep set up from standing. Ideally you want to have the Lockdown established and the underhooking arm switching to the leg before you ever start to fall to your back. Filmed at 8th Street Gym in Grand Junction, Colorado. Jeff “The Wolverine” Barney, Brian Lamgo, filmed by Cameron Thurgood.”

What is stopping him from dropping all of his weight on your chest when you pull half guard like that. I think I’d have a broken sternum if I tried this.

Me likey. It seems a bit clumsy but I’ll try it tonight and see. In tournaments I usually tie up and throw on lock down anyway so it seems simple enough just to throw my arm under his leg on the way down and take advantage of the momentum.

Seems to me if you were sweat’n theres a good chance of slipping straight down into a indian leg lock counter to lockdown. I don’t even want to try this live. (but it looks real cool so I’ll try it anyway:-)

This sweep is the sh|t , put in the numbers and you will take big dudes down easily, then once your down there do what ever you feel like. Or you could just double leg and take a knee to the face….. hmmm
