10th Planet HQ Moves Back To Legends In Hollywood This Monday October 5th

September 30th, 2009 In News | 19 Comments

Yo Everyone!

I hope ya’ll are having a great day!

We will be moving back to the Legends starting next Monday, the address is
5176 Santa Monica. It’s about a half mile east of the 101 freeway. There are
about 20 parking spots in back of the building so if it’s packed you’re
gonna have to hunt for spots on the street. There is a JONS market about a
block west which has A LOT of parking but there are JONS PARKING ONLY signs
posted, so I’m not too sure how risky it is. Chris Reilly has parked there a
couple times with no problems. There is no security guard monitoring the
parking lot so I’m assuming it is safe. A tow truck can’t just pull up and
tow cars without someone calling so we’ll have to see how that all plays
out. Maybe grab a gatorade at JONS first??

The new Legends building is HUGE and I am fully stoked to get the show on
the road. All of my jiu jitsu student’s accounts will remain under my
control, so if you have any questions about your membership please email me
directly.

Hope to see you all next Monday! 🙂

10th Planet’s George Sotiropoulos Fighting @ UFC 106

September 29th, 2009 In MMA | 6 Comments

MMAWeekly is reporting that the undercard of UFC 106 will feature a lightweight match up between “Ultimate Fighter” veterans Jason Dent and George Sotiropoulos. UFC 106 is set to take place on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas.

George Sotiropoulos was a cast member of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Hughes vs. Team Serra.” On the show, he made it to the semi-finals before being knocked out by eventual runner up Tommy Speer. Since the show, Sotiropoulos has gone 3-0 in the UFC. Most recently, he dropped down to lightweight and submitted season 8 veteran George Roop. Overall in MMA, the Australian is 12-2 with six victories via submission.

Jason Dent was invited to be a cast member for “The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom” after a previous 0-2 stint in the UFC. Dent made it to the semi-finals of the show, before losing to Ross Pearson. Since the show, Dent submitted cast mate Cameron Dollar at show’s finale. The performance earned the Cincinnati native submission of the night honors.

A heavyweight title fight between champion Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin is set to headline UFC 106. The card will also feature the UFC debut of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Tito Ortiz will return to the UFC against former heavyweight champion Mark Coleman.

10th Planet’s Dan Hardy vs. Mike Swick to determine No. 1 contender @ 170

Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy to determine No. 1 contender for Georges St. Pierre
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Sep 28, 2009 at 8:10 am ET
On Sunday UFC welterweight contender Mike Swick (14-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) took to Twitter and announced neither Matt Hughes nor Georges St. Pierre would likely be his next opponent.

That’s because he’ll next fight Dan Hardy (22-6 MMA, 3-0 UFC) to determine the next opponent for current 170-pound champion Georges St. Pierre.

That’s the word from Mike Chiappetta of AOL FanHouse, who confirmed the plans with UFC president Dana White via text message.

White didn’t confirm a specific date for the proposed matchup, but since Hardy had been announced as part of the UFC 105 main card with opponent Dong Hyun Kim, the Swick vs. Hardy fight will likely replace that bout on that Nov. 14 card.

However, as of Monday morning, the Hardy vs. Kim fight remained listed on UFC.com.

UFC 105 takes place at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England, and airs via same-day delay on Spike TV.

Swick had been scheduled to fight Martin Kampmann earlier this month at UFC 103 in a No. 1 contender’s bout. However, the former top middleweight contender suffered a concussion a few weeks before the fight and was forced to pull out. (UFC newcomer Paul Daley took his spot instead and pulled off the upset victory over Kampmann.)

Swick is 4-0 since dropping to welterweight in early 2008 with decision wins over Josh Burkman and Marcus Davis and TKO victories over Jonathan Goulet and Ben Saunders.

Hardy, a British fighter, first joined the UFC in 2008 and has become one of the organization’s top U.K. stars. He’s currently riding a six-fight win streak, which includes a 3-0 mark in the UFC with a split-decision win over Akihiro Gono, a KO win over Rory Markham, and a split-decision victory over Davis.
