impact bjj

I’m on vacation in the Pacific North West and got some recommendations to check out Impact BJJ while I was here. I had the pleasure of Training with the guys over there last night. Michael Chapman and Armand Debruge Taught the class. I felt a little out of place since it was primarily a gi class (my gi has been packed away for years), but they chose that night to teach some nogi stuff. It was awesome, Great bunch of guys. If anybody is ever in the Beaverton, OR area, I suggest stopping by.

They have a couple of fighters fighting in the FCFF’s (www.thefcff.com) “Rumble at the Roseland” August 23rd. It’s and amature MMA show up here in Portland, OR. Many of the local gyms have fighters participate. I had the pleasure of going to one last year and had a blast. I’m looking forward to going to the upcoming one.

10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Rochester: “The RLS”

August 7th, 2008 In Techniques | Comments Off on 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Rochester: “The RLS”

“The RLS (restless leg syndrome) is very much like the ‘slide’ arm break from the spider web position but uses the leg to shake down your opponent instead. ”

Fresh off his internet victory over <:(((>< on www.mixedmartialarts.com, Chris Herzog stops by to give us the RLS. I would have named this move the “electric boogaloo” but I see where he was going with it.

Coach Alder Hampel vs. Zunks @ 10th Planet Hollywood

August 6th, 2008 In Sparing | 9 Comments

Here’s me vs. Zunks. I have to appologize to him for putting this video up. Especially since the first submission I get him in is “The Bouncer”, the ol’ hammer lock used by pro wrestlers and bouncers alike. It’s effectively used to escort “That Guy” out of your fine establishment. You know the drunk obnoxious guy with the Affliction shirt claiming he’s a UFC fighter. I’m obsessed with using pro wrestling moves in Jiu Jitsu. I feel it’s my duty, when the opportunity arises, to use moves like this. Stay tuned for my choke slam guard pass series coming out later this year on Panther Video.

I’d also like to appologize for using the sound fx of kids clowning and a golf clap. I come from a back ground in sound. It’s in my blood to be entertained by funny sound fx. I’ll probably lose a training partner for this, but I thought it was funny, so I had to do it.

I did the intro music, it features a vocal sample of the Bad Boy Karl Cutta MC. The other songs are “Under Mi Sensi” and “Boom Boom”. I hope you guys enjoy

WEC Carlos Condit vs. Hiromitsu Miura

August 4th, 2008 In MMA | Comments Off on WEC Carlos Condit vs. Hiromitsu Miura

Part 1

Part 2

While Watching this video I took some notes.

In Video 1 in Round 2:
@ 7:11 of the video, Carlos goes for an awesome 360 type spin pass that lands him in the mount.
@ 7:24 Carlos does a great job of using the Karo Pass to end up in Miura’s half guard.
@ 8:00 Miura has a “Lockdown” with double underhooks. At one point he also get’s on gets an arm hooked under the far leg, I thought he might be looking to sweep. Instead of trying to sweep from this position, he just used it to rest. He doesn’t make much of an effort to whip up to his side.
@ 9:17 Carlos is in a perfect position to use “Swim Move” to get to the “Spider Web” or armbar position. He goes for the arm, but can’t control Miura’s body and eventually loses the hold.

Great back and forth action, It was very entertaining!

A Coach Alder Film: Brought To You By The Good People of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu: CUO Presents: “The Butterfly Stomp Pass”

August 4th, 2008 In Comedy, Techniques | 5 Comments

Here’s another video coming to you live and direct from 10th Planet Head Quarters Headquarters in Hollywood California. Eddie Bravo’s brown belts and heterosexual overachievers, Check Ur Oil and Coach Alder Hampel, demonstrate how to pass the half butterfly guard. Watch for a knee to the balls blooper on the 3rd demonstration. It’s sure to leave you in stitches!

After you watch the video you’ll probably have a few questions.
Q: “Are they really that tough?”
A: Yes, those sledge hammers and Loc’s sunglasses were NOT props. They came into the gym with those things in their possession. Those menacing scowls are the product of years of “street experience.”

Q: “Is CUO really the ladies choice?
A: Are you kidding me? Right now as your you read this he’s taking your mom out for a nice seafood dinner at Red Lobster

Q: “Where can I get some of that phat dope, fo’ shizzle 10th Planet Gear?”
A: www.Meleefightgear.com, duh dummy
