“The RLS (restless leg syndrome) is very much like the ‘slide’ arm break from the spider web position but uses the leg to shake down your opponent instead. ”
Fresh off his internet victory over <:(((>< on www.mixedmartialarts.com, Chris Herzog stops by to give us the RLS. I would have named this move the “electric boogaloo” but I see where he was going with it.
Here’s me vs. Zunks. I have to appologize to him for putting this video up. Especially since the first submission I get him in is “The Bouncer”, the ol’ hammer lock used by pro wrestlers and bouncers alike. It’s effectively used to escort “That Guy” out of your fine establishment. You know the drunk obnoxious guy with the Affliction shirt claiming he’s a UFC fighter. I’m obsessed with using pro wrestling moves in Jiu Jitsu. I feel it’s my duty, when the opportunity arises, to use moves like this. Stay tuned for my choke slam guard pass series coming out later this year on Panther Video.
I’d also like to appologize for using the sound fx of kids clowning and a golf clap. I come from a back ground in sound. It’s in my blood to be entertained by funny sound fx. I’ll probably lose a training partner for this, but I thought it was funny, so I had to do it.
I did the intro music, it features a vocal sample of the Bad Boy Karl Cutta MC. The other songs are “Under Mi Sensi” and “Boom Boom”. I hope you guys enjoy
In Video 1 in Round 2:
@ 7:11 of the video, Carlos goes for an awesome 360 type spin pass that lands him in the mount.
@ 7:24 Carlos does a great job of using the Karo Pass to end up in Miura’s half guard.
@ 8:00 Miura has a “Lockdown” with double underhooks. At one point he also get’s on gets an arm hooked under the far leg, I thought he might be looking to sweep. Instead of trying to sweep from this position, he just used it to rest. He doesn’t make much of an effort to whip up to his side.
@ 9:17 Carlos is in a perfect position to use “Swim Move” to get to the “Spider Web” or armbar position. He goes for the arm, but can’t control Miura’s body and eventually loses the hold.
Great back and forth action, It was very entertaining!
Here’s another video coming to you live and direct from 10th Planet Head Quarters Headquarters in Hollywood California. Eddie Bravo’s brown belts and heterosexual overachievers, Check Ur Oil and Coach Alder Hampel, demonstrate how to pass the half butterfly guard. Watch for a knee to the balls blooper on the 3rd demonstration. It’s sure to leave you in stitches!
After you watch the video you’ll probably have a few questions.
Q: “Are they really that tough?”
A: Yes, those sledge hammers and Loc’s sunglasses were NOT props. They came into the gym with those things in their possession. Those menacing scowls are the product of years of “street experience.”
Q: “Is CUO really the ladies choice?
A: Are you kidding me? Right now as your you read this he’s taking your mom out for a nice seafood dinner at Red Lobster
Q: “Where can I get some of that phat dope, fo’ shizzle 10th Planet Gear?”
A: www.Meleefightgear.com, duh dummy

Eddie bravo and scott redondo drill some MMA techniques circa 1998. It was filmed at Jean jacques Machado’s in Tarzana, CA. This vid was obviously taped on a serious high quality VHS recorder.
I thought this was cool. I know they’re system might not have changed much since this commercial, but I thought we might want to look at where we evolved from. I’m happy to not wear the gi anymore, but I still have a respect for it and the sport’s roots. =)
If it wasn’t for Royce Choking out the Art Jimmersons and the Remco Pardoes of the world, I’d still be power bombing my friends and setting up the dreaded Camel Clutch.
“This is a from guard variation of the Peruvian D’Arce (itself A Peruvian Necktie Variation using the vice grip) that I have been developing. I was having a lot of success with the Peruvian D’Arce, so I decided to see if it would work from guard. So far, so good.” – David “Lo Pan” Callaham
EDIT: The music is, naturally, “Pork Chop Express,” from the BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA SOUNDTRACK. Written and performed by John Carpenter himself.
I haven’t hung out with David much, but after watching this video, I probably should. The Big Trouble In Little China references had me falling out laughing. These set ups are really slick.
The TOTAL FIGHT CHALLENGE welcomes back Jason Human Weapon Chambers to our card for Saturday September 20th at the Hammond Civic Center which is located just 25 mins from Downtown Chicago. This is Chambers first MMA fight since his hit TV show “The Human Weapon”. Chambers will take on the tough up and coming “Dan New” who just won a tough fight against a very skilled striker, Steve Styx. We look forward to welcoming Chambers back to the Chicagoland area.
I had the pleasure of teaching class tonight at the 10th Planet Headquarters at the Legends Gym in Hollywood. I showed the class one of my money sweeps, The Ham Sandwich. It’s a combo sweep/submission when your opponent posts one or both of their legs up. You can hit it from several different positions. It works well from the stomp, the cocoon, open guard, butterfly guard with one under hook, 93 guard. I’ve even seen Conor Heun do a flying Ham Sandwich.
This Technique came from Legendary Jiu Jitsu master, Ricardo Liborio of American Top Team. He taught it to Eddie Bravo and Jason Chambers in Japan when Jason was fighting out there.
***This technique was not taught to Jason Chambers and Eddie Bravo by Ricardo LIborio of American Top Team. It is actually a Jason Chambers Variation. I stand corrected.
Sorry Jason ; )
Intro song: Alder f/ Karl Cutta MC – “Bring That Back”
Outro Song: Origin & Armanni Reign – “Cold (White Christmas)”
I’ve gotten a lot of flack from hollywood types about our style of Jiu Jitsu. They say it’s not flashy enough, it’ll never work on the big screen. All I have to say to the haters is, have you seen this fight? This is the best example I could find of how 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu translates into film. I know when the time comes, Jorge Lucas will be phoning me to do the fight choreography for his next million dollar movie. Watch out “Red Belt”, be on your guard “Never Back Down,” we’re comin’.
The Powder Kegs is what puts the art in martial arts. It’s is like doing flares if you’re a bboy. Jacare did this in ADCC 2005 in one of his matches. If you have Eddie Bravo’s “Mastering The Rubber Guard,” it’s shown on page 84.
Brent CUO began his jiu jitsu career with Ricardo “Rey” Diogo, a Carlson Gracie Black belt and team member. After three years of training with Rey and following a promotion to blue belt, Brent decided to shed the gi and started his training with Eddie “The Twister” Bravo. Under Eddie’s tutelage, Brent was promoted to purple belt and began teaching private lessons to beginners at tenth planet. During the following two years, Brent continued to work at tenth planet, and in September of 2006, he became a brown belt, receiving his belt from Eddie Bravo himself. Today, Brent still coaches for tenth planet at Legends Gym in Hollywood and hopes to get his black belt soon.
As far as teaching is concerned, Brent has experience far beyond the gym and the mats, experience that he believes allows him to convey jiu jitsu technique at the highest level. In addition to having an undergraduate degree in religion, Brent also has a Masters degree in Applied Psychology. He has worked as a school teacher to special needs children and, today, works as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Through working in both of these fields, Brent believes that he has a unique understanding how to package information in an easily digestible manner, helping every beginner become proficient in brazilian jiu jitsu at an accelerated pace.
If you would like to contact Brent for private lessons, you can reach him at checkuroil (at) hotmail.com. His specialties include the half guard, rubber guard, and the d’arce (brabo) choke.
Here’s my first original video, I just taught myself how to edit. The better I get, the worse these videos are going to get. I’m going to use the “Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job” format. It’s going to be bad acting, awful music, terrible editing and when I figure out how, bad fx. Just think the Whiskey Skate videos mashed up with the Invisible Skratch Piklz and a little Public access thrown in, but for Jiu Jitsu.
